Thanks to the initiative of Engineer Juan Gavino Guerrero G., the GG-IADESO Foundation (Investigacion Apoyo Desarrollo Social) was established; this achievement was made possible by his extensive experience, his expertise, and his work ethic. Organized and founded at Hacienda San Francisco—established in Quito, Ecuador, in 1993—the Foundation is currently headquartered in Houston, Texas, United States.
Investigacion Apoyo Desarrollo Social Foundation has been providing advice, technical support, training, coordination, management, and project and activity work. “All of this free of charge”.
Located in the Tisaleo cantón, Tungurahua Province, Ecuador, at the end of the 18th century, my maternal grandparents acquired this hacienda, which was worked with great effort and care by my remembered grandparents Gavino Guerrero and Evarista Álvarez; Years after they departed this life, the property passed by inheritance to the family—Francisca Pastora and José Abel Guerrero (Teresa, Luis Alberto, Fanny Mariana, and Juan Gavino)—and Juan Tobias Guerrero, we grew up in this paradisiacal place, nestled in the nooks of the snow-capped Carihuairazo.
Looking at the wonderful life of nature, the care of diverse trees, the forest, short-cycle and aromatic plants, beautiful gardens, fruit trees: apple, claudia, mirabelle, blackberry, fig, cucumber; vegetables: white onion, cabbage, lettuce, spinach; cereals: barley, quinoa, corn; tuber cultivation: potato, melloco, oca, garlic, red onion; poultry, grass and alfalfa, livestock: cattle, sheep, horses, pigs and the interesting rabbit farming.
This allowed us to live comfortably and even dedicate ourselves to social work—particularly with the laborers who played an active role in the development and growth of this beautiful property.
We collaborated actively—with the support of his beloved mother, “Paquita,” and his sister, “Fanny Mariana,” as well as a diverse group of citizens—and, notably, with technical support from various public and private organizations and institutions. Together, we executed projects and activities that contributed to the development of rural and marginalized communities. Thereby improving their social and economic living conditions”.
